Meet our Team
Alex began working at Lethbridges Barristers and Solicitors as a paralegal
while completing her Law degree in mid 2004. Alex graduated from Monash
University with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Music with outstanding results
in criminal law, federal criminal law and intellectual property.
Alex was admitted to practice in 2006 after completing her Professional Legal Training
at the College of Law. For the last 15 years Alex has practised exclusively in the area
of criminal law. Alex's caseload has focused primarily on indictable work in the both the County and Supreme Courts. Alex has appeared and/or instructed in Magistrates', County, Supreme, Court of Appeal, Federal and High Court jurisdictions and has an in-depth understanding of court processes and procedures.
Alex has also acted for a number of Australian citizens charged with criminal offences in overseas jurisdictions. In 2016 Alex was awarded the Law Institute of Victoria, Access to Justice Award in recognition of her ongoing pro-bono work for two members of the Bali 9 who were on death row in Indonesia.
Alex was a finalist in the 2019 Woman in Law awards for her pro-bono work for Australian Woman Yoshe Taylor, who was sentenced to 23 years' imprisonment for drug smuggling in Cambodia. In May 2019 Ms Taylor's conviction was quashed in the Supreme Court of Cambodia and after nearly six years imprisonment she was returned to Australia to be reunited with her two children.
Alex has had a number media engagements including appearances on ABC radio, Australian Story (ABC) and Insight (SBS) . Alex has also had a number of speaking engagements, including as a Keynote Speaker at the Conference of Regulatory Officers (CORO) and at the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade regarding Australia's Advocacy for the Abolition of the Death penalty.
Alex has been named a recommended leading criminal defence lawyer in Victoria and Australia by the Doyle's Guide.
Una Ebsworth has been with Lethbridges
since 2006, when she joined the firm as a
paralegal. She has since graduated from
the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor
of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts.
She was admitted to practice in 2009.
Una has experience in a wide range of criminal matters spanning Magistrates' Court summary proceedings through to Supreme Court trial and appeals. She has been involved in the preparation of indictable matters including complex fraud, drug prosecutions, homicide and sexual offences. Una regularly appears
in the Magistrates', County and Children's Court of Victoria.
Una is accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a criminal law specialist.
Legal Executive | Practice Manager
Taryn obtained her Diploma in Law
and Practice from the Chartered Institute
of Legal Executives in Wales. Taryn moved
to Australia in 2011 and joined Lethbridges
in 2016. She brings with her a wealth of
experience in criminal law, property
law and the overall management of a legal practice.
Taryn is the first point of contact for all clients and assists the solicitors. She has a hands on role in preparing matters for court and in the day to day running of all files. Taryn's responsibilities include conferring with clients to ascertain the nature of their matter, researching and conducting investigations into the client's defence, preparing and filing court documents, preparing briefs to Counsel and attending Court hearings to instruct Counsel. Taryn also manages the day to day operations of the firm.
Taryn is a Fellow of the Victorian Institute of Legal Executives.
